Ekiti PDP Lawmaker Leads 200 Members To Join APC

A suspended member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, on Tuesday led 200 other members of the PDP to join the opposition APC.
Aribisogan, who represents Ikole Constituency 1 in the assembly, was on October 6 last year suspended by his colleagues for 180 legislative days for allegedly holding meetings with the senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, and others perceived to be “political enemies” of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The lawmaker has since denied the allegation and this is the first time the ruling PDP is losing members since Fayose returned to power in October 2014.
Speaking during his defection at Ward 7 in Ikole Local Government Area, Aribisogan said his action was hinged on the division in the state chapter of the PDP which, according to him, made his stay in the party “extremely difficult.”
Aribisogan was received by the state APC executive council led by the Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye.

BREAKING: INEC Announces Date For Osun Governorship Election Rerun

Thursday’s supplementary contest will be a straight battle between Adeleke and Oyetola, as the rerun will hold only in the seven polling units where results were cancelled. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Thursday September 27 as the new date for a rerun after Saturday’s inconclusive Osun State governorship election. Announcing the results on Sunday afternoon, Joseph Afuwape, INEC’s Returning Officer, had said Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled254,699, while his closest challenger, Isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had 254,345 votes. Supreme Court Sacks Abubakar Danladi Sani From Senate -

The Supreme Court has sacked Abubakar Danladi from the Nigerian Senate. Mr. Danladi represented Taraba North in the Senate. The apex court also ordered him to refund all salaries and allowances earned in the Senate within 90 days. Mr. Danladi was sacked by the Supreme Court on the same day a member of the House of Representatives, Herman Hembe, was also sacked by the apex court. Mr. Danladi’s political career was once saved by the same Supreme Court which ousted him today.
